Happy Chinese New Year!

What a lag post, but it’s okay since it’s still the chinese new year season!

I haven’t been blogging because I was sick for more than a week. This is only an excuse, I was lazy for more than a week. Before cny, I ate melon seeds for three consecutive days and I developed a sore throat :( Soon, I started coughing and I am still coughing now. Therefore, I haven’t been eating any cny goodies (except for some pineapple tarts, I dislike pineapple but I’m somehow okay with pineapple tarts) although I have quite a lot of them at home! I want to eat!!!

I’ve got nothing to blog about. Ella is getting married!!! YAY!!! Hope Hebe will find the right person soon!

this week

I have a bad memory. Let’s start from last sunday!

Sunday: Guo Yanling came to my house to teach me guitar! She lied to me that I had to bring the guitar tomorrow to partyworld for others to play. I actually believed her but I was thinking why should I bring a guitar there when those going for partyworld the next day don’t even play the guitar. In the end, she told me that the guitar is my birthday present!!! Wahahaha, I have a guitar now! I can’t play the guitar but I can play with the guitar. Thanks aaron, cleo, debra, jean, mariel, whaipeng and yanling for the guitar! I hope I didn’t miss anyone out and I hope the guitar wasn’t too expensive.

Monday: Partyworld! I think singing ktv too often makes it less fun but I enjoy listening to cleo sing! and I can get to know more english songs from ktv! Went to Saizeriya to eat dinner, it was quite worth it since it wasn’t expensive. Went to Haato to talk a bit more but it was a bit hard to talk to everyone since we were occupying two tables. Went home!

Tuesday: My cousin treated me to Sakae Sushi!!! Went to her house before going Sakae and got to erm play with my baby niece. I think it is really hard to take care of babies, they are so unpredictable and cry for no reason! My cousin is very generous!

Wednesday: Rest at home. I must have done something but I can’t remember what I did.

Thursday: YAY! Went to iluma to watch a movie!!! Haha, there were so few people in the cinema, I wonder if filmgarde actually makes profits. I went to watch 大魔術師! The leads are 周迅 (I love her!), 梁朝偉 and 劉青雲! You must be thinking wow, what a star-studded cast, there are actually some other famous actors making cameo appearances too, making the show even more interesting. I like this show because I am biased from the beginning and because it is really funny and has a proper plot. A lot of comedies don’t have a plot and a lot of comedies try too hard to be funny and end up not being funny. There are a lot of magic tricks in the movie too, which makes the movie erm cool. Haha, I’m so bad at describing a movie, my vocab consists of interesting, nice, good, funny, cool…and that’s it. Just watch the movie, support more asian productions!

Friday the 13th! It’s my birthday! Thanks to those people who wished me happy birthday! To celebrate my birthday, I went to watch S.H.E videos (actually I do this very often) HAHAHA, it was super funny! I’m going to eat pizzas now!

and OMG YIHUI YOU GOT INTO CAMBRIDGE!!! CONGRATZ! you are so so so so so so so pro! I can show off to people that I got a friend who got into cambridge!

It’s actually my birthday tomorrow as well, chinese birthday

these few days…

Went to watch Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows with my class yesterday. 8 turned up, not too bad. It has been a really long time since I watch an English film, the last was Harry Potter, before that should be Pirates, even more before should be Harry Potter. The movie was not bad. I was drinking bubble tea at the start of the movie which was not a smart decision because halfway through the movie I wanted to go to the toilet but I didn’t do so because I wanted to watch the entire movie (and also because I was sitting right in the middle of the row). I like the music in the movie, it reminded me of Pirates and yar, I checked Wiki, the same person wrote the music for both films. The fighting scenes reminded me of 武俠。I didn’t find the movie very detective-ish because the clues just flashed and I didn’t have the feeling of “wow, so smart!” But I haven’t read any Sherlock Holmes story so I don’t know how Sherlock Holmes investigate stuff. During the movie, I recalled that I had a Sherlock Holmes name card in my wallet (I got it from the Sherlock Holmes museum). I was thinking if I should throw the card backwards to provide a 4D experience for the lucky person who would catch it, but I didn’t do so

Random thought: why must the escalator be black? Can’t they make it look like clouds? Some escalators go faster only when people step on them, so if the escalator looks like clouds and start accelerating when I step on it, isn’t it fun? Or it can look like the Harry Potter staircase, it would be nice too.

I am a bit bored at home so I’m going to invite friends to my house to watch dvd! If you are interested in any of the following movies/concert, please leave a comment, I can invite you to my house to watch it. It’s much nicer watching something on the big tv screen than on the tiny computer screen.

Concerts: S.H.E 移動城堡，S.H.E 愛而為一， Hebe 的音樂會，Jay Chou’s concert  which I can’t remember the name, 戴佩妮’s 野薔薇， Sammi vs Sammi 2004 concert

Alternatively, you can invite me to your house to watch movies/concerts you recommend! I have a feeling that no one is going to reply to my invitation to watch movies/concerts I find it interesting to know what kind of movies/music a person enjoys, if the person likes the same thing as me, I would be thinking that the person has good taste

I shall make it short and sweet! Short = I will end this post by the next sentence. Sweet = Hebe singing 祝你新年快樂！

2nd last day of 2011!

2011 is nearly over, so it’s time to review my 2011 resolutions (http://greatermind.wordpress.com/2010/12/30/year-end-resolution-for-the-new-year/) and see how many of them I have achieved! I will give myself a score out of 10 for each point and I shall be lenient and make sure I pass

1. I will not be NATO. It’s quite hard to judge if I have been NATO or not, er I guess I’m still NATO to a great extent but I have been doing some things that I want to. I don’t even talk about what I want to do, so I’m definitely not “talk only”. I shall give myself a 2 out of 10 for this point!

2. Be more considerate. Don’t be selfish. Wah, this point is even harder to judge than the first point. I can’t recall anything that I did that was very selfless…so a zero for this.

3. Improve my English. Hahahahahahaha. I did quite well for AQ this year because somehow the teacher liked what I wrote. I did nothing to improve my English. Another zero.

4. Exercise more. Yay! 10/10 for this!!! I used to hate running but I don’t find running a chore anymore! I’m still running regularly now! I’m going to run later

5. Participate in random amazing races. ZERO.

6. Don’t procrastinate. Another hard to judge point, erm, to encourage myself, I shall give myself a 3! Current score: 15/60.

7. Improve my Chinese. I read chinese stuff weekly (yar, UWeekly) I listen to chinese music and I watch chinese movies and series! I started reading chinese books this year! 9/10!

8. Improve my Physics. I did not read my Physics textbook but my physics grades did not drop, so a 5.

9. Treat my friends better and give them birthday presents. I think for the first half of the year, I tried to give birthday presents on time. I don’t think I have treated my friends better this year, but since I’m getting such a low score, I shall just give myself a 5 for this as well.

10. Do housework. I did quite a lot of housework this year compared to last year! I can even cook a meal now (but I need my mum to tell me what to do before I start cooking) I just cooked lunch for my brothers and myself! 8/10!

Total score: 42/100! The passing mark is 40%, so I passed! YAY!

I set these 10 goals last year but I forgot about them quite soon, so I didn’t constantly make an effort to achieve them. I will set some new goals, either tomorrow or on the first day of 2012!

Happy Boxing Day!

Went to Desmond’s Christmas gathering on Christmas Eve! Haha, so funny to see him with no hair. His family actually hired a bus for all of us to get to Keppel Club to have dinner! A very yummy dinner. Came back to his house to eat more, chit chat and play contact! His mum was really nice to send me back home because I live quite close to his house! Thank you desmond and family, wish that your army life gets better

Went to Debra’s house on Christmas! I was looking forward to the penang laksa before I went to her house. The last time I went to her house on Christmas, I couldn’t take spicy stuff but I kind of like spicy stuff now Walked to Clementi Mall with Mariel and she treated me to yakitori, that’s why I’m supposed to use this blog title. To make her happier, I shall repeat the statement, Mariel is such a nice person!

To end off this post, I shall post a picture of something I drew on Christmas eve. It looks like something a primary school kid will draw, er…but it’s not bad that I got the motivation to even draw something

Whee…new post!

I shall blog today because I haven’t been blogging for a really really really really ………… really long time (sounds like I haven’t blogged for a year, but it’s just a few weeks)

I haven’t found a job, but I’m not unemployed because you need to actively seek a job and not get a job to be considered unemployed. I hope to get a job when the new year comes!

Uni app. I just had SUTD interview yesterday and took a look at the temporary campus. The interview went quite well, they didn’t ask tough questions, more on talking about yourself and your high school experiences. I got accepted into NTU’s accountancy and business! I haven’t applied to NUS yet and I’m thinking if I should…

Ok, fun stuff now – TV! It’s sad that quite a few shows I was watching had ended 我可能不會愛你 ended last week, the last episode was very sweet and its 收視率 was finally number 1 in Taiwan! 古靈精探B on channel 838 ended yesterday. Although this show was on channel 855 during June to July, I missed too many episodes then because I was overseas for quite a few days (missed like 8 episodes) The stuff toys used in this series were so cute! I like this kind of show, comedy + detective stuff! I like D.I.E also, because everyone in that department was so slack but they worked seriously when they were required to.

I’m currently following 3 series on TV (that’s very few because my bro told me that I followed 7 series a month ago) I’m watching 怒火街頭 now. I don’t find that show very nice actually because I didn’t like the main leads from the very beginning and I was expecting better performance since the show won a lot of awards. I’m watching 花花世界花家姐 also and I love this show! I love Pig Pig 豬! Haha, my taste is so different from the Hong Kong audience. This show received very low ratings, but I find Charmaine so cute and funny as 花家姐！“一間變兩間，兩間變四間，四間變八間，然後上市，然後分拆分拆就發達，哈哈哈哈哈哈” The 3rd show I’m following now is 秀才遇著兵. I enjoyed the show when I watched it years ago. 水東樓 is good! I’m also somewhat watching Parental Guidance II on Channel 5 now, it’s funny!

The two paragraphs above were how I used to write 隨筆 in year 3 and 4. I just talked about the tv series I was watching and since there will always be new series, I will always have stuff to write for 隨筆

Movie time. I forgot to blog that I watched 鴻門宴 sometime back. 張涵予’s voice is so deep and nice, very suitable as the narrator! For people who don’t know about 鴻門宴, it happened some time after the Qin Dynasty (er…I’m not sure if that time was still considered the Qin Dynasty…it was like between Qin and Han) 項羽 wanted to kill 劉邦 because he went to enter 關中 first and became king, 項羽 wanted to be the king, so he set up this 鴻門宴 and invited 劉邦. He didn’t kill 劉邦 in the end. Haha, I sound like a primary school student trying to explain something I watched, it’s better for you to just read up about it. The movie tried to squeeze everything about 楚漢 into slightly more than 2 hours, which was not very well done since they omitted quite some stuff. I find tvb’s 楚漢驕雄 nicer, but this is an unfair comparison since you can’t compare tv to movie.

I watched 龍門飛甲 on Wednesday! 周迅 and 桂綸鎂!!! From the trailer, I thought this movie will be bad but I was wrong. A not bad movie. I like 桂綸鎂 when she was speaking the Tatar language and her look in the movie was cool!

Oh ya, I watched both movies for free, thanks to UWeekly! So I shall help them promote their magazine here since they are always so nice to give my brother tickets! People, buy UWeekly for erm gossip news, there are recipes, travel ideas, horoscopes and many more in the magazine as well. For the next 4 issues of UWeekly, as long as you buy two of them and cut out this coupon, you can redeem a dragon year ang pao pack from Buzz! Okay, end of promotion.

Another thing to say, Selina’s 《重作一個夢》EP is already out now (was out since 16 dec)! Looking forward to S.H.E album next year!!!

why didn’t nancy win?!?!?

Just finished watching tvb awards.

I’m really some kind of 衰神。Whoever I want to win an award will always not win Why didn’t 胡定欣 win? Even 黃日華 and 苗僑偉 supported her! 論演技，胡定欣 is the best! The best supporting actress award was the 5th award to be given and from that point onwards I became very sad since this was the award I was most concerned about.

Congratz to all other winners. I started watching 怒火街頭 today on Channel 838, shall wait to see if the winners were deserving

My big brother and I whipped up a fantastic meal for our whole family tonight! (we cooked lunch too, but it wasn’t for the whole family) The dishes for dinner are as follow:

1. 碧海青天掛虹橋
2. 滾滾紅塵尋黃金
3. 培根熱狗相聚歡
4. 藕斷絲連情更綿

The first dish was a whole plate of vegetables (青天) (chye sim + shanghai green) with red carrots (虹橋). The second dish was a whole plate of small slices of luncheon meat (紅塵) with egg (黃金). The proportion of luncheon meat to egg was a bit skewed. You should be able to guess the third dish from its name, it was hot dog wrapped with bacon. The last dish was the lotus root soup!

From this cooking experience, I learnt that cooking is really hard and tiring, especially when you are doing it alone. There are so many things to do at the same time. Cut this, cut that, wash this plate, wash the veggies, wash the meat, cook this, cook that, scoop the food up, wash the used plates…..Therefore, I shall cook more so that my mum won’t be too tired!

The dinner we cooked was quite good but a bit salty. Too bad, no picture as I was too lazy to take one. Just imagine very nice food
